The type 170_V with a four-cylinder engine became the most-constructed Mercedes-Benz passenger-car of the pre-war period (internal designation: W 136). It was presented in Berlin together with the 170_H and the 260_D and superseded the six-cylinder type 170 (W 15). In the years from 1936 to 1941 overall more than 70,000 units of all bodywork variations were produced. Its 1.7-litre had a performance of 38 hp at 3,400 r/m. The type 170_V was also the starting point for the post-war production taken up in 1946 at Daimler-Benz. |
